Ultimate ultrasound visibility

ENCAPSON

Encapson is a medical technology company with the mission to improve patient care through innovative echogenic coating solutions for medical devices. Sono-Coat™ is an echogenic coating technology that significantly improves the ultrasound visibility of medical devices in the body leading to better patient outcomes. The unmatched ultrasound visibility of Sono-Coat™ enables doctors carrying out difficult minimally invasive procedures.

Encapson is the frontrunner in echogenic coating solutions. We work closely together with the medtech industry and experienced clinicians to develop state of the art visibility solutions for precision guided medical procedures.

SONO-COAT

Standard medical devices have a poor visibility in ultrasound imaging, which creates a risk when carrying out interventions. Sono-Coat™ catheters and needles are clearly visible in the image, allowing for effortless location from any possible angle. Sono-Coat™ technology also enables precise targeting of objects in deeper tissue structures (e.g. liver and kidney biopsies) and supports the physician in performing accurate, safe and error-free ultrasound-guided minimally invasive procedures.

ULTIMATE ULTRASOUND VISIBILITY SOLUTIONS

Sono-Coat™ is based on a coating matrix of acoustically reflective microspheres that enhance ultrasound reflection, independent of the angle of the medical device.

As front-runner in echogenic coating solutions Encapson has defined a new standard for ultrasound visibility in imaging minimally invasive procedures. In a comparative study, 60 endoscopists and interventional radiologists performed a blind review of the ultrasound visibility of 10 different echogenic biopsy needles (laser-etched, dimpled, sand-blasted and Sono-Coated™). The Sono-Coat™ needle outperformed (p<0.01) currently available needles and was ranked number 1 in ultrasound visibility. The results have been published in GIE (PMID: 26873530).

Sono-Coat™ technology can be applied to polymer catheters and steel, nitinol or titanium needles. Sono-Coat™ is biocompatible, temperature resistant for ablation therapy and can be overcoated with lubricious, anti-microbial and anti-thrombogenic coatings without loss of echogenicity. Encapson is ISO13485:2016 certified and recently deployed a cutting-edge production unit for the automated application of Sono-Coat™.

PARTNERING

Encapson already established multiple research and contract manufacturing collaborations. Our goal is to work together with medtech companies, clinicians and research institutes to increase the clinical value of Sono-Coat™. Our coating systems facilitate the work of interventional clinicians in applications such as regional anesthesia (needles and catheters), biopsies, RF/RM/Cryo ablation, central lines (CVC, PICC), specialty catheters, angioplasty, transseptal puncture and mitral valve repair. If you would like to explore how integration of Sono-Coat™ technology can support you in developing novel applications, please contact us at: info@encapson.com
